In August, 2011, upon retiring from Emily Griffith Technical College in Denver, Colorado, after 38 years of service, Dr. Sharron Carosella began working as an educational consultant. Emily Griffith is one of three technical colleges in the state and serves approximately 10,000 students in any given year. She started at Emily Griffith in 1973 as a career and technical education teacher and held many roles throughout the years including program manager, counselor, financial aid director, and director of instructional services.
In her role as director, Dr. Carosella supervised the deans of the College of Health Sciences, the College of Business and Technology, the Apprenticeship Program, and the Language Learning Center (ESL). In addition, she directly supervised 50 members of support staff in the Treasurer’s Office, Registration, Counseling, Assessment, the Career Development Center (job placement), the Success Center (remedial services), Special Projects (WIA), and Adult Basic Education (GED preparation).
Dr. Carosella received her masters and doctorate from Colorado State University in Vocational Education Administration and Supervision with a cognate area of Adult Education. She also completed the hours for a masters in Special Education at the University of Northern Colorado. Dr. Carosella holds Colorado licensure as a Principal, Counselor, and Teacher and has Colorado Vocational Credentials in 13 career and technical areas.
As a result of her experience and education, Dr. Sharron Carosella’s areas of expertise include the following: management and supervision, professional development, curriculum development, grant writing, North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI) requirements and procedures, and Carl D. Perkins federal requirements. She has served as a trainer for the Colorado Community College System and a lead evaluator for NCA CASI.
