Barbara Nicol is the Director for Adult Workforce Education with the Ohio Board of Regents in Columbus, Ohio. She is responsible for 57 postsecondary career technical certificate-granting institutions in the state and administers an $18 million state and federal budget requiring performance measures. Barbara’s experiences highlight education management and practice, teaching and learning, quality assurance, career and technical offerings, public policy, industry credentialing, and building business partnerships.
Ms. Nicol graduated with a Bachelors of Science and Masters of Science in Career Technical Education, holds a Workforce Development Certificate through the New York School Anne E. Casey Foundation Marketing Certificate from Franklin University, Columbus, Ohio. Previously, Ms. Nicol was an Assistant Director for Adult Workforce Education at the Ohio Department of Education (ODE), Business-Industry-Education-Agency Linkage Coordinator, and Career Technical Education Supervisor with ODE, and Career Education Coordinator at Tolles Technical Center.
Ms. Nicol has participated in numerous accreditation trainings, served as team member and Chair for multiple accreditation review visits, participated as a postsecondary task force member for standards development. She is currently a North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI) Career, Technical and Postsecondary Education Board Member. She is an active member of both the Ohio and National Association for Career Technical Education (ACTE).
